2023/24 Panini Select Serie A Soccer Hobby: tiers, parallels and box contents

Terrace, Mezzanine and Field Level give the base set three collecting lanes. The Hobby box adds a parallel-heavy mix and three autograph or memorabilia cards, on average.

2023/24 Panini Select Serie A Soccer Hobby puts the collecting choice in the base set as much as the hits. Its 250-card checklist spans Terrace, Mezzanine and Field Level, with parallels adding another way to pursue a player or build a set. A collector can choose a particular tier, chase a color or concentrate on the numbered cards rather than treating every Select card as interchangeable.

The box format matters, too. Panini's official Hobby product page specifies 12 packs of five cards, with three autograph or memorabilia cards per box, on average. That is a combined category: the box description does not promise three autographs.

What comes in a Hobby box?

This guide covers the 2023-24 Panini Select Serie A Soccer Trading Card Box (Hobby), identified by Panini as SKU 2-16219-12.

Hobby configurationPanini's specification
Cards per pack5
Packs per box12
Cards per box60, calculated from the pack configuration
Boxes per case12
Autograph or memorabilia cards3 per box, on average
Inserts or insert parallels7 per box, on average
Parallels14 per box, including 5 numbered parallels, on average

The five numbered parallels are included in the 14-parallel average. They are not five additional cards on top of that total. The autograph-or-memorabilia, insert and parallel figures are box averages, so use them to understand the format rather than as a guaranteed inventory for an individual box.

For a collector interested in more than signatures, that parallel allocation is a substantial part of the appeal. It gives the box several collecting threads: base-set progress, variations of those cards, inserts and the autograph-or-memorabilia portion. Decide which of those threads matters most before making the rarest possible pull the entire reason to open it.

Terrace, Mezzanine and Field Level: choose your set

Panini describes a 250-card base set across three levels of collectibility: Terrace, Mezzanine and Field Level. The 250 cards belong to the overall base set; this is not a description of three separate 250-card sets.

That structure gives a set builder a useful starting point. Choose whether the goal is the full base checklist or a narrower collection organized around a tier or player. For a single-card purchase, keep the tier in the card's identity alongside the year, player and parallel. A shared product name alone is not enough to establish that two cards are the same collecting target.

Panini names Multi-Color, Camo, Tie-Dye, Zebra and Black among the parallel choices. Those names give collectors specific versions to look for, but the product description does not supply their individual print runs or a complete numbering ladder. Use the exact card's numbering when assessing a numbered copy; a parallel name by itself does not establish how many exist.

Autographs, memorabilia and the rare-insert chase

The named autograph and memorabilia attractions include Select Signatures, Pitchside Signatures and Autographed Memorabilia. They offer different collecting directions: a signature-focused card or a card that combines an autograph with memorabilia. Let the player and the particular card drive that choice. The box's combined hit average cannot tell you which of those cards you will receive.

Panini also highlights Stained Glass, Artistic Impressions and Visionary, describing the super-rare gems as falling one per case, on average. That wording does not promise one of each named insert in a case, or one in every Hobby box. With 12 boxes in the case configuration, these belong in the longer-shot part of the chase.

If one particular insert is the card you want to own, pursuing that exact single is the direct route. Opening a box makes more sense when the broader mix of tiers, parallels and hits is itself appealing. The strongest reason to collect this Select release is having several cards you would enjoy keeping, with a rare insert adding to the experience when it appears.
