2026 Leaf PayDirt Football: Barry Sanders’ 1988 Season Becomes a Legendary Journey

Barry Sanders' 1988 Heisman Trophy and NCAA rushing-leader season are printed across his A Legendary Journey preview. That gives 2026 Leaf PayDirt Football a particularly strong first impression: an autograph card built around an identifiable chapter of a player's football life.

Leaf's inaugural PayDirt release appears in its February 2026 calendar. The configuration panel lists four autographs and eleven base cards per box, highlights an exclusive NIL autograph, and gives a ten-box case count.

Sanders' card has a specific subject

The Legendary Journey title works because this Sanders card names the achievements it is celebrating. The college-season references, player image and autograph belong to the same story. A collector interested in Sanders before his professional career gets more than a general portrait and signature.

Larry Csonka's preview takes another route. An American flag and fireworks establish the background, while the photograph and autograph remain the main foreground elements. It is a more celebratory, patriotic composition than the milestone-led Sanders card.

Rare Pair adds a two-signer target

Leaf advertises Rare Pair dual autographs, describing each as having only one version. That gives the debut another identifiable autograph group alongside A Legendary Journey and its individual-player cards.

The notable-name roster spans Barry Sanders, Peyton Manning, Emmitt Smith, Tim Tebow and Dan Marino, together with younger football subjects including Haynes King, Fernando Mendoza, LaNorris Sellers and CJ Carr. NIL signatures are part of that broader mix of established and developing players.
