Michael Jordan’s impossible halfcourt dunk is getting a Metal Universe short print. Upper Deck’s 2026 Skybox Metal Universe Space Jam 30th Anniversary set brings the original film’s characters into PMGs, autographs and the brand’s familiar insert designs. The dunk card is a particularly good fit: it gives the film’s climactic basketball moment a dedicated chase rather than treating Jordan only as another character portrait. Upper Deck’s announcement

The PMG ladder and Jordan’s dunk card

The announced character PMGs include Jordan and the Looney Tunes, with Red /100, Blue /50, Green /10 and Gold 1/1 versions. The special halfcourt-dunk short print has a separately announced PMG selection in Red, Green and Gold 1/1. The two parallel programs should be kept distinct when identifying the dunk card.

Jordan and voice actors from the film are among the announced autograph subjects. Upper Deck also names Jambalaya, Platinum Portrait, Z-Force, Skybox Premium and Skybox Autographics as returning themes. Manufacturer announcement

A film cast with different card personalities

The manufacturer’s preview sheet gives the new sets a stronger sense of character than a list of insert names can. Big Ups puts Elmer Fudd on a tall court-colored card. Monstars gives Bupkus a purple cosmic setting, while Cinematic places a movie scene inside a horizontal frame with Bugs Bunny alongside it. The regular Nawt preview is more portrait-like, with a silver name bar and the Space Jam anniversary mark beneath him. Exact product preview

Those compositions suit different parts of the movie. Cinematic uses a scene to tell the story; Monstars makes the opposing team the subject; Big Ups turns a character into a basketball-card pose. A collector following the film can pursue a favorite scene or character without treating all three designs as interchangeable.

Familiar Metal designs meet the Tune Squad

Another preview sheet shows Trophy Case framing the Tasmanian Devil in black and silver, Magnetic Field placing Tweety Bird inside blue concentric waves, and Z-Force giving Pound a sharply angled, multicolor background. Nawt’s Supernovas card uses oversized lettering and streaked color. These are useful examples of how the set adapts the existing Metal Universe style to animation.

Upper Deck announced the release for 2026 without a firm launch day in its June announcement. This guide follows that exact Metal Universe product; the separate 23XI crossover cards commemorate Bubba Wallace’s Space Jam-themed race car. The movie set’s strongest collecting hooks are already clear: the Jordan dunk, character PMGs, film-talent autographs and familiar insert constructions reworked around the original Space Jam cast.
