Wembanyama Rookies: Raw vs. PSA 9 vs. PSA 10
One Prizm rookie, three ways to own it. We compare the actual cards, the grading premium and recent sales to choose a Wemby for a real collection.

Victor Wembanyama's Prizm rookie works beautifully in Spurs colors. The black uniform and dark background sit inside a silver frame, with an orange basketball breaking up the monochrome. The photograph gives his extraordinary proportions room to register. Before a grade enters the conversation, this is already a compelling Wemby to own.
Put that same rookie in a PSA 10 holder and the purchase changes considerably. Recent completed sales for Gem Mint 10 copies reached several times the prices paid for Mint 9s. The picture, rookie designation and card number stayed the same. The condition grade became a major part of what buyers were paying for.
We are comparing 2023–24 Panini Prizm #136, the standard base rookie, in three forms: raw, PSA 9 and PSA 10. Our pick for a collector who wants this Prizm rookie with a certified condition grade is PSA 9. Here is what each choice actually adds.
Three copies available now
| Choice | Featured asking price | What makes it worth considering |

| PSA 9 — Mint | $115 | The same rookie with an established Mint grade |
| PSA 10 — Gem Mint | $475 | Gem Mint condition on the same base #136 rookie |
Asking prices are from September 8, 2026, before shipping and tax. Price and availability may change. Completed sales appear separately below.
Start with the right Prizm rookie
All three cards show Wembanyama dribbling in his black Spurs uniform, with the RC shield at the upper right. This is the unnumbered, unsigned base card. The metallic silver border is part of its design; Silver Prizm is a separate parallel. Keeping the exact version constant lets us compare the grade without also changing the finish, photograph or edition. The featured graded copies are identified as base #136 in their PSA 9 certification and PSA 10 certification.
The rookie designation belongs to his 2023–24 NBA season, when Wembanyama won Rookie of the Year unanimously. That gives the card a clear place in a Spurs collection or a run of significant NBA rookies. NBA award announcement.
Raw: the Prizm rookie itself

The raw copy makes a strong case for this design. The stepped silver border frames Wembanyama's full figure, while the team name and RC shield sit above him. There is plenty happening around the photograph, but the restrained colors keep the player at the center.
BigByrdsCollectables offers this copy for $89.99, with Best Offer available. The seller describes it as near mint or better and provides front and back photographs.
Two recent raw copies, also described as near mint or better, sold for $62.25 and $83. The $89.99 example sits above those transactions.

PSA 9: our choice for a graded Wemby rookie

The PSA 9 brings a specific condition assessment to the same rookie. Titancards2010 asks $115 for certification 89554928, which PSA identifies as Mint 9. The holder's label, card number and certification are all visible in the featured photograph. PSA certification record.
Mint is a high condition standard. PSA allows limited minor imperfections at 9 and applies more generous centering tolerances than it does at 10. Small differences can separate the grades even when two copies look very similar in listing photographs. PSA grading standards.
This is the copy we would put beside other graded NBA rookies. The black Spurs uniform against that silver border looks terrific in the clear holder, and Mint 9 supplies the condition standard we want for this particular base card.
At the featured asks, the move from raw to PSA 9 is $25.01 before shipping and tax. Recent PSA 9 auctions at $107.40 and $107.50 put the $115 asking price a little above those completed transactions. The step buys an already graded Mint example of #136, while the move to 10 carries a much larger premium.

PSA 10: when Gem Mint is part of the collection

PSA's eBay listing offers certification 112762028 for $475, with Best Offer available. PSA's record confirms the base #136 rookie and a Gem Mint 10 grade. The listing's scan gives a clear view of the card and the matching label. PSA certification record.
PSA's Gem Mint standard calls for exceptional corners, focus and gloss, with tighter centering requirements than Mint 9. It still allows a slight printing imperfection that does not detract from the card's overall appeal. The featured 10 has the same Spurs photograph, silver border and unnumbered base edition as the 9; the step up is from Mint to Gem Mint condition. PSA grading standards.
The price step is substantial: $360 above the featured PSA 9 ask. Recent completed PSA 10 sales at $365 and $399.99 show that buyers have paid a sizeable premium over 9s. They also sit below this copy's $475 asking price, by $110 and $75.01 respectively.

What the market actually paid
These are completed transactions for the same base #136 rookie, grouped by condition category. Amounts exclude shipping and tax.
| Form | Recent completed sales | Sale evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Raw, described as near mint or better | $62.25 on September 7; $83 on September 5 | 14-bid auction; 27-bid auction |
| PSA 9 | $107.40 and $107.50 on September 7 | PSA's eBay auction records |
| PSA 10 | $365 at auction and $399.99 at fixed price on September 7 | PSA's eBay sales records |
The biggest separation is between Mint and Gem Mint. Those two PSA 10 transactions were about 3.4 to 3.7 times the two PSA 9 results. That is a real grading premium in this small group of sales, not a change in which rookie card the buyer received.
Which one would we choose?
For a graded Wembanyama rookie collection, we would choose the PSA 9. Prizm #136 earns its place through the player, rookie season and striking Spurs-colored design. Mint 9 gives that card a strong condition grade, and the $115 example keeps the purchase focused on those qualities.
The raw copy is the direct route to the same design when graded cards are not your format. The PSA 10 is the deliberate choice when Gem Mint status is one of the collection's requirements. Its premium has a purpose for that collector.
Wembanyama supplies the reason to own #136. The grade determines which version of that purchase fits the collection you are actually building.
