Upper Deck’s Auston Matthews Epitome of the NHL autograph preview.

Auston Matthews’ new Epitome of the NHL autograph is a good introduction to 2024–25 Ultimate Collection on e-Pack: a large player photograph, a pale lower panel and a blue signature with room to breathe. Upper Deck launched this edition on October 21, 2026, bringing its autograph-and-memorabilia format to online pack opening. The cards can become part of a physical collection: COMC handles fulfillment, with shipping or transfer to a linked COMC account available. Upper Deck launch announcement

Four cards, with the emphasis on ink and memorabilia

An e-Pack costs $349.99, while an eight-pack case is $2,699.99, in US dollars. Each pack contains four cards, with at least one autograph, one memorabilia card and one additional autograph or memorabilia card per pack, on average. That is a compact opening built around signed cards and material pieces, rather than a large stack of base cards. Official product and price

The veteran-and-legends base collection has 100 cards numbered to 149: 75 veterans and 25 legends. Its unautographed color parallels run Gold /99, Purple /35 and Platinum /5. Ultimate Rookies are a separate group in the pack odds, with the basic rookie cards numbered to 299 and autograph and patch versions carrying their own tiers. Those distinctions matter when comparing a numbered veteran base card with a rookie autograph from the same product. Product description and Odds tab

Sealed wax and e-Pack follow different resale paths

Ultimate’s $349.99 e-Pack offer changes what can enter the secondary market. Upper Deck sells the online opening directly; its published trading instructions concern cards added to a collection after opening. Eligible physical cards can then be shipped or transferred to COMC for sale. The store and those instructions offer no advertised route to resell an unopened Ultimate e-Pack. Upper Deck’s collecting and resale explanation · General Trade rules

With physical sealed wax, the unopened package itself can be resold. Ultimate’s e-Pack offer instead describes an online opening followed by ownership and trading of the individual cards. Upper Deck handles the initial pack sale; collectors and dealers can participate in the secondary market once the cards are revealed. These are different purchase and resale paths for the online and physical editions.

Matthews’ signature and two very different rookie designs

Epitome of the NHL is new to this release and features hard-signed veteran autographs. Matthews’ example places the Maple Leafs photograph above a broad silver-and-white title band, then gives the signature a separate light background below. The blue ink echoes Toronto’s colors, while the pale NHL shield behind it stays subtle enough to leave the autograph legible. Upper Deck’s product gallery

Lane Hutson’s Ultimate Rookies patch autograph fills the card differently. His white Montreal jersey sits against red diagonal panels, with the signature crossing the lower part of the player image and a gold-framed patch window underneath. Upper Deck’s photographed copy is 17/49. The window and autograph share the vertical layout without reducing the player to a tiny corner portrait.

Will Smith’s Ultimate Introductions Gold /25 is the cleaner photographic counterpoint. His Sharks uniform and stick dominate the center, framed by angled blue shapes and a dotted gold field. The preview is numbered 20/25. With no signature or memorabilia window on this pictured version, the skating pose and teal equipment do most of the work. Official card previews

The memorabilia lineup also includes Ultimate Material Signatures, combining hard-signed autographs with large patch swatches; Ultimate Emblems Autos, incorporating an engraved metal piece; and Ultimate Quad Materials Patch cards with game-used patch swatches from four players. Each offers a different physical feature, from fabric to metal to a four-player arrangement. Official product description

Celebrini’s Shield belongs to the Quest awards

The e-Pack release adds a Quest Challenge ending January 13, 2027, at 11:59 a.m. Pacific. Its announced top-finisher prize is a Macklin Celebrini VIP Rookie Shield Patch Auto 1/1. The pictured card makes the NHL shield its centerpiece, with Celebrini above it and a large blue signature below. This is a Quest award, separate from the cards randomly inserted in Ultimate packs. Official Quest announcement

Quest subject points follow the Ultimate cards held in an e-Pack collection. Trading a card moves its points to the new owner; shipping it or transferring it to COMC removes those points from the collector’s total. That gives the online release a specific extra decision: a card can remain in the e-Pack collection for the competition or move into the collector’s physical holdings. Quest rules

Ultimate’s strongest visual contrast is between Matthews’ open signing panel, Hutson’s portrait-and-patch construction and Smith’s uninterrupted action image. Those are three distinct reasons to enjoy this release before the Quest leaderboard enters the picture; Celebrini’s oversized Shield adds a separate, unmistakably premium award to the e-Pack version.
