2026 Bowman Football Sapphire: “Air Bear,” Rams Gold and a Two-Level Checklist
College prospects, NFL rookies and veteran quarterbacks share the checklist. Six autograph previews show how differently Sapphire’s colors can play against a uniform.
We update this release guide as verified product details develop.

Bear Bachmeier’s preview comes with a little extra ink: “Air Bear!” The blue inscription sits beneath his signature on a Red Sapphire Chrome Prospect Autograph numbered 1/5. Above it, Bachmeier holds the football in a white BYU uniform, framed by deep red facets and a narrow blue outline. The lettering gives this card a personality that the parallel color alone could never supply.
That is a good starting point for 2026 Bowman Football Sapphire Edition, arriving October 29. This release spans college prospects, NFL rookies and established NFL players, and the first six previews are all autographs. Bachmeier’s inscription, Ty Simpson’s gold Rams card and Fernando Mendoza’s pink Sapphire Selections show three distinct ways into the set. Topps’ release page
Bachmeier and Coleman put the college cards in focus
Bachmeier’s card has both the Bowman U Chrome logo and the 1st Bowman mark. The photograph leaves enough pale space below his waist for a broad signature and the separate inscription, without pushing either into the nameplate. The red background makes the white jersey and blue ink exceptionally easy to pick out. For a BYU collection, the helmet, chest lettering and oval Y at the bottom keep the school identity prominent throughout the design. Bachmeier preview
Cam Coleman’s Orange Sapphire is the cleanest school-color pairing in this group. His white Texas uniform gives the orange surround plenty of room, while the Longhorn helmet logo, TEXAS chest lettering and lower team emblem reinforce the same palette. His compact blue signature sits in a large white area beneath the running photograph. The pictured card is 02/25, with a 1st Bowman mark at upper right; the official checklist identifies his prospect autograph as BCPA-CC. Coleman preview, checklist
Two Rams quarterbacks, two very different frames
Ty Simpson’s Gold Sapphire rookie autograph makes unusually good use of the Rams colors. The gold facets pick up the yellow helmet horns and jersey numbers, while a blue inner border follows the uniform’s other dominant color. His signature stretches almost the full width of the lower panel. The RC shield sits at upper left, and the pictured 32/50 is easy to read beside the ink. This is the preview I would put beside Coleman’s when explaining why a parallel’s color can matter as much as its numbering. Simpson preview
Matthew Stafford’s Black Sapphire autograph, pictured 02/10, uses the same broad photograph-over-signature arrangement with a darker result. His raised football and white uniform stand out against charcoal facets; thin yellow and blue borders supply the Rams color. The checklist places Stafford in Base Chrome Autographs as BCA-MS, while Simpson belongs to Base Chrome Rookie Autographs as BCRA-TS. Those separate autograph families give a Rams collector a veteran-and-rookie pairing with a clear visual relationship. Stafford preview, checklist
Allen and Mendoza turn the color up
Josh Allen’s Padparadscha Base Chrome Autograph is the loudest version of that familiar frame. The pink facets surround a blue Bills jersey, with a broad white fade separating the photograph from his sweeping signature. The pictured 1/1 sits above the Bills emblem. Unlike Simpson’s close color pairing, Allen’s card works through contrast: pink against blue, a busy perimeter around a large, readable autograph. Allen preview

Fernando Mendoza’s Sapphire Selections Autograph NFL gives the same pink color a different structure. His throwing pose fills the upper half, his black Raiders jersey anchors the bright background, and the signature runs above a separate scripted nameplate. Sapphire Selections lettering spans the bottom instead of the standard position-and-team strip. This Padparadscha preview is also 1/1, with an RC shield beneath the Bowman Chrome logo. The checklist goes beyond the six previews
The Sapphire checklist separates Chrome Prospects, Chrome NFL Base and Chrome Rookie Base. Bachmeier appears at BCP-26, Coleman at BCP-14, and the prospect list runs through BCP-201 Arch Manning. On the NFL side, Allen is BCV-10 and Stafford BCV-64; the rookie section begins with Mendoza at BCV-101 and Simpson at BCV-102. The card codes make the college/pro split much easier to follow than the six-image gallery alone.
Sapphire Selections also has separate NFL and NIL autograph lists, with nine entries apiece. The NFL group includes Allen, Mendoza, Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Justin Jefferson. The NIL group includes Bachmeier, CJ Carr, Drew Mestemaker and Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele. Beyond autographs, the five-card Hidden Gems list combines three college subjects—Sagapolutele, Carr and Bryce Underwood—with NFL rookies Carnell Tate and Simpson. Treasured Talent adds separate NFL and NIL groups. That mixture is the defining collecting feature of this Sapphire release: the pro and college cards have distinct identities within one checklist.
October 29 is the date; box details are still to come
Topps has announced October 29 availability for Bowman Football Sapphire. The release page does not yet give a launch time, price, pack configuration or per-box autograph count. The six autograph previews establish individual designs and pictured serial numbers; they do not establish the contents of every box. Release details
Bachmeier’s inscription is my favorite personal touch in the preview group, while Simpson’s Gold and Coleman’s Orange make the strongest cases for choosing a parallel by its relationship to the uniform. Allen and Mendoza supply the spectacular pink 1/1s, but the checklist’s college-and-NFL structure gives this release more to explore than those two headliners alone.
