2026 Topps Chrome Star Wars: September 30, Box Formats and Autographs

A Porg, an Anakin Black Refractor and a Harrison Ford autograph show the range. Andor collectors get an especially interesting corner of the signature checklist.

Anakin Skywalker's blue lightsaber cuts across a dark Black Refractor. A Porg takes over a bright polka-dot insert. Harrison Ford's signature appears beneath Han Solo on a gold Superfractor. 2026 Topps Chrome Star Wars has room for all three, and the difference between those cards is a good reason to explore more than the autograph list. The release arrives September 30, 2026, with a 200-card character base set and four announced box formats. The Mandalorian and Grogu, Andor Season 2 and Star Wars: Visions Season 3 receive dedicated coverage alongside characters from across the saga. Topps release page, Topps box guide

Hobby and Breaker Delight emphasize different parts of the checklist

Hobby has ten packs of ten cards, with one autograph and four numbered parallels per box. Its exclusive Star Wars Logofractor is numbered to 77. Breaker Delight compresses the opening into one twelve-card pack with two autographs, five exclusive parallels, three Rainbow Refractors and an exclusive Purple Geometric Refractor. Official format comparison

For an Anakin or Han Solo collector interested in unsigned cards as well as signatures, Hobby's larger opening gives the character checklist more room to matter. The Logofractor adds an identifiable Star Wars pattern to that pursuit. Breaker Delight concentrates much more of its small card count on signatures and format-specific finishes, which makes its Geometric designs especially relevant when comparing versions of a favorite character.

Topps assigns sketch-card content at the case level: two sketches in an eight-box Hobby case and three in a six-box Breaker Delight case. Those quantities should stay separate from the advertised box autograph contents. A sketch is an original-art attraction in the mix, not part of every Hobby box's guaranteed signature slot.

Topps Value and Superbox details

The meaningful distinction for character collectors is the finish or design that can appear in each format. Raywave gives Value a different parallel texture from Hobby's Logofractor and Breaker Delight's Geometric patterns. Costco's Characters Design Variation goes further by offering a separate design treatment, rather than only changing the color around the standard image.

That makes a character-by-character approach useful when the cards begin circulating. An Anakin collector may care more about which of those designs best suits the lightsaber photograph than about assembling every box format. The available formats create several visual branches through the same release, with the autograph-heavy opening concentrated in Breaker Delight.

Anakin's Black Refractor lets the lightsaber do the work

The Anakin preview is numbered 01/10. Its black rings echo the orbital shapes used in the base design, while the bright blue blade cuts diagonally across the character. The darker perimeter frames the photograph without swallowing the lighter parts of his face and tunic. Official Anakin preview

Anakin is a particularly good match for this treatment because the photograph already contains a strong light source and a clear line of motion. The refractor does not need another large graphic to create drama. The blade supplies it. Collectors who enjoy a restrained numbered card have a concrete alternative here to the busier insert designs.

The background's circular structure also carries into the Han Solo autograph preview, where gold replaces the black treatment. Seeing the two together makes the base design's flexibility clearer: it can support an action pose or a more straightforward character portrait while leaving the figure recognizable at card size.

The Porg earns its place in The Galaxy's Cutest

The Galaxy's Cutest is a fifteen-card insert set. Alongside the Porg, the checklist includes Grogu, Ewok, Jawa, Loth-Cat, Puffer Pig and other creatures. The Porg is QT-12, giving that very round little face a precise destination on the checklist. Official insert checklist

The oversized photograph, dotted field and bright logo give the card a playful look that is completely different from Anakin's Black Refractor. The creature nearly fills the card, so the expression remains the attraction even through the loud colors. Hammy is prepared to concede that the Porg has excellent screen presence for someone shaped like a pear.

Elsewhere, Stormtrooper Command takes the shape of helmet die-cuts, while Eras uses original artwork to follow the films. Those are substantial changes in form and imagery, not merely new names attached to the base layout. The release can accommodate a creature-focused insert collection, a helmet-shaped card project and traditional character parallels without making them feel interchangeable. Topps insert overview

Andor gives the autograph checklist a strong shared-story thread

The signature list includes Elizabeth Dulau as Kleya Marki, with a dedicated Andor Season 2 autograph entry as well as her regular autograph. A dual pairs Dulau with Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael. Another pairs Diego Luna's Cassian Andor with Alan Tudyk's K-2SO. Official autograph checklist

These pairings are appealing because they preserve relationships within the story. Kleya and Luthen share one card; Cassian and K-2SO share another. For an Andor collection, that narrative connection gives the duals a reason to matter beyond containing a second signature. The dedicated Season 2 autograph subset also gives collectors a focused way into a much larger entertainment checklist.

Ford remains one of the release's headline autograph names, joined by Mark Hamill, Pedro Pascal, Natalie Portman and other cast members. On his illustrated card, the portrait occupies most of the gold field and the blue signature has a broad pale panel beneath it. The layout keeps Han Solo immediately recognizable while giving the autograph enough room to read. Topps autograph preview, official signer overview

Our favorite directions are the Anakin Black Refractor for its light-and-dark composition, The Galaxy's Cutest for its unapologetic creature focus, and the Andor duals for their story connections. Hobby offers the broadest opening of the four formats for the character set; the more concentrated formats and exclusive designs supply different reasons to explore the same galaxy.
