2025–26 MVP Silver Collection: Schaefer, Misa and the Script Chase
Rainbow foilboard meets a 25-card rookie extension, with Schaefer and Misa leading a compact Silver Script, Copper Script and one-of-one chase.

Matthew Schaefer and Michael Misa were the first two selections in the 2025 NHL Draft. In 2025–26 Upper Deck MVP Silver Collection, they anchor a 25-card Extended Rookies group that gives this version of MVP a reason to exist beyond a shinier finish.
Released in January 2026 as a Certified Diamond Dealer conference exclusive, Silver Collection puts the MVP design on rainbow foilboard and extends the checklist through card #275. The 20-pack hobby box offers enough cards to make the rookie selection central to the opening: its advertised averages include 30 Extended Rookies and ten Extended Rookie Script parallels.
Schaefer gives the silver finish some color
Schaefer's Silver Script #275 makes a strong case for the foil treatment. The Islanders' blue and orange cut through the pale metallic frame, while the action photograph stretches diagonally across the card. The angular border follows the movement instead of boxing the player into a small portrait. In this photograph, green, yellow and violet reflections give the silver background considerably more life than the product name suggests.
The dark MVP logo and broad ROOKIES lettering keep the card recognizable underneath that shine. Its signature-style Script graphic runs across Schaefer's gloves and waist, leaving his face and the Islanders crest clear. That placement matters: the decoration joins the action photograph without covering the two details that most immediately identify the player and team. The pictured copy comes from an exact Silver Script listing.
The 25-card extension changes the checklist
Upper Deck's final checklist divides the base run into 200 regular cards, 20 SPs, 30 Rookie SPs and 25 Extended Rookies. The extension occupies #251–275; Schaefer closes it, with Misa at #271. That separate block is the key to understanding which rookies belong to the Silver Collection expansion.
There are useful team pairings inside those 25 cards. San Jose gets Misa and Sam Dickinson; Detroit gets Axel Sandin-Pellikka and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard. Calgary has Zayne Parekh, Matvei Gridin and Hunter Brzustewicz. Easton Cowan gives Toronto a target at #265, while Beckett Sennecke appears for Anaheim at #253. The extension spreads its attention across several clubs instead of making every pack's rookie interest hinge on Schaefer alone.
The numbering also makes the extension easy to distinguish from the earlier Rookie SP block. A card in the 220s and a card in the 270s may both say MVP and feature a rookie, but they occupy different checklist groups. Silver Collection's Script chase specifically follows the 25 names at the end.
Silver Script, Copper Script and a black one of one
The back of Schaefer's card provides the useful identification details: 275 at the top and Silver Script beneath the player information. The front supplies the foil and signature-style decoration; the reverse names the parallel. Both views help explain what makes this a specific version of his MVP rookie.
For Extended Rookies, the final checklist lists Silver Script at 1:2.5 packs, Copper Script at 1:10 packs, and Super Script Black numbered 1/1. Each parallel covers the same 25-player group. Those are parallel-group odds, not the odds of pulling Schaefer or any other individual player.
Across 20 packs, the stated Silver and Copper rates work out to eight Silver Scripts and two Copper Scripts on average. That arithmetic fits the advertised ten Script parallels per box. It also explains the shape of the opening: Silver Script should supply most of the parallel variety, Copper appears less often, and each Super Script Black offers a single numbered copy of its subject.
What the hobby box contains
Each box contains 20 packs of eight cards, or 160 cards. The advertised averages are 20 SP/Rookie cards, 30 Extended Rookies and ten Extended Rookie Script parallels. Upper Deck's final checklist gives Extended Rookies a rate of one to two per pack, which accommodates a box with more Extended Rookies than packs. Those box totals are averages, not a promised player mix.
Silver Collection's appeal sits in that concentrated rookie block and the way its foil changes the familiar MVP frame. Schaefer's blue-and-orange card shows the effect particularly well, while the shared 25-player Script checklist gives Misa, Cowan and the other Extended Rookies the same three parallel levels. The rainbow surface attracts the eye; the specific names and numbered extension give collectors something substantial to follow after the first flash.
