Panini's 2026 Absolute Football First Off the Line hobby box.

Absolute’s First Off the Line box starts with the same three-pack, three-autograph setup as regular Hobby. The difference is where Panini spends the serial numbers. One of those signatures is a FOTL-exclusive Tools of the Trade or Prospect Premier autograph numbered to 18. The box also averages three FOTL parallels numbered to 18 or less. And then there’s Purple Kaboom, which you can chase in this box. Panini’s exact First Off the Line offer

That makes FOTL the box for someone who wants the shorter-print version of Absolute’s featured signature. Regular Hobby is the place to start if the main draw is three autos and a memorabilia card in 15 cards. The two boxes even have the same three insert slots on average. Panini’s standard Hobby box

The Hobby cards worth a closer look

Trinidad Chambliss’s Prospect Premiere Materials Jumbo Auto is the strongest example of what Absolute can do with a big swatch. Panini gives the red-and-white window almost half the card and still leaves a wide stretch of white for his signature. The purple Tools of the Trade Double preview of Ray Lewis goes the other way, with two smaller windows so the photograph and the Baltimore colors carry more of the design. That Lewis preview shows the memorabilia version. The featured autograph slot is separate from the box’s memorabilia card. The sell sheet lists a 200-card base set and previews Joe Montana on a red-and-gold Base Spectrum. The additional autograph families have very different looks. Brett Favre’s Iconic Ink Bronze has a tall, white signing area across the lower card. Drew Brees’s Absolute Marks Red puts his signature beneath oversized lettering. Spectrum Signatures Green gives Michael Irvin a foil burst behind his No. 88 jersey. The Brees is the one I’d put up front. The Saints white jersey, gold lettering and red frame all hold their own without crowding the ink. Panini Hobby sell sheet via Steel City Collectibles

FOTL auction time and price ladder

Panini’s Dutch auction opens Tuesday, November 10, at 11 a.m. Central, noon Eastern and 10 a.m. in Arizona. The first price is $1,200. The ladder drops every five minutes as long as boxes are available: $1,040, $880, $720, $560, then $400. That puts the floor 25 minutes after the start if the auction is still going. A Panini account is required, and the limit is 12 boxes per transaction. Panini’s auction offer and terms · Panini’s upcoming releases

Southern Hobby and Dave & Adam’s put regular Hobby on Wednesday, November 18. That’s eight days after the direct FOTL auction. The $400 floor belongs to the Panini auction and can be reached only if that allocation lasts through all five drops. Southern Hobby distributor listing · Dave & Adam’s Hobby listing

Kaboom, Solar Eclipse and the FOTL colors

Hobby’s vertical Julian Sayin Kaboom catches him winding up to throw against a wall of orange comic lettering and teal lightning. Randy Moss’s Solar Eclipse is just as dramatic, with a dark foreground and an amber halo cutting around his helmet. They work for different reasons. The Sayin pulls your eye up into the lettering, while the Moss pulls it straight to the receiver. By Storm Bronze sits between the two visually. Ryan Wingo stays front and center as the storm rolls up behind him. Panini Hobby sell sheet via Steel City Collectibles

Purple Rain and Black are the FOTL parallels Panini names. The three exclusive parallel slots and the featured /18 autograph are the numbered parts of the box breakdown. Purple Kaboom is an FOTL chase alongside Solar Eclipse. Panini calls both SSPs and hasn’t given Purple Kaboom a pack rate or a print run in the offer. The /18 number belongs to the featured autograph, and /18 or less applies to those three exclusive parallel slots. Panini’s FOTL product details

Which Absolute box makes sense for you?

Pick Hobby if you want the signature families and the standard Kaboom or Solar Eclipse chase. Pick FOTL if you’re collecting the /18 autograph version, Purple Rain or Black, or want a shot at Purple Kaboom. For a player rainbow, the two exclusive parallel names are as important as the chase insert. For a relic collector drawn to Absolute’s big swatches, both boxes average a separate memorabilia card.

The other boxes have their own hooks. The Blaster and Mega guide covers Orange Stars and Blue Stars. The Countdown Calendar guide covers the 24-door format and its Holiday Suit memorabilia. For the featured autograph and two more signatures in three packs, look for Hobby or First Off the Line.
